Institutional Role

  • Regional Coordinator for Emory University’s ECHO Project on Perinatal Substance use research

  • Research Assistant for Morehouse School of Medicine on current CORAL and OVAL Projects, in collaboration with Emory University

  • Program Coordinator for Morehouse School of Medicine on upcoming Georgia SAFE Mom’s Project research, which will be in collaboration with DPH and Phoebe Health Systems

Contracted Teaching & Training Roles

  • Doula Certification Instructor for Mercer University’s South Georgia Healthy Start staff. This staff is being certified as doulas through Spiral Birth’s own 13-week designed doula program. Topics include: History, Types & Roles of Doulas, Consultations, Contracts & Liabilities, Birth Plans, Partner Support, Common Pain Interventions, Prenatal Visits, Supporting High Risk Births, Food & Nutrition, Stages of Labor, Death in Birthwork. Perinatal Grief & PMADs, Perinatal Paternal Disorders, Postpartum Planning, Lactation Education, Period Care, Chronic Reproductive Disorders, Community Birthwork, and Contemporary Issues in Birthwork

  • Georgia SASS Instructor: Teaching free classes on self-managed abortions and miscarriage management statewide

  • Digital Defense Fund Instructor: Teaching free digital security classes for reproductive health & justice organizations.

Organizational Coordination/Regional Work

  • Regional Development Coordinator (In Progress) for Motherhood Beyond Bars: Working as a liaison between the organization and South Georgia county jails to assist in the establishment of their weekly childbirth education programs within the jails at no cost to the institutions due to grant funding.

    Role also includes assisting with identifying childbirth educators to teach the organization’s curriculum and identifying perinatal strengths and barriers in each region for resource navigation.

  • If/When/How Network Member: Regional contact for assistance with resource navigation for pregnancy criminalization cases; provide assistance with selected research studies and also provide digital security trainings for criminal defense attorneys and advocates.
